Charlie 4 Icon Challenge

Fitz Charlie 4 Icon Challenge (1)

Another 4 Icon Challenge….

This is my interpretation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 4 icons.  I chose the shack to represent the home Charlie shared with his 4 grandparents and parents. I chose the golden ticket to represent the 5 golden tickets that Mr. Wonka. spread around the world as invitations to his factory.  The 3rd icon is meant to show Wonka giving the golden ticket holders a tour of his factory.  The chocolate is there to represent the pile of chocolate that Charlie will get to eat everyday now that he is in control of the factory.

Movie Trailer Mashup

I checked the DS106 website to get some creative ideas about projects that could be done with my students and found the assignment for the Movie Trailer Mashups.  I was instantly inspired by Oscar’s Transformer mashup.  I wanted to choose 2 films that had the same setting but completely different audiences.  Here is my Predator mashup.  I used the videos from YouTube[1. The original clips can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrDsvVKY_d4, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7inbFKJOy_E] and edited the clips in Garageband and iMovie ’09.

Bond MacGuffin

The Messing with the MacGuffin assignment through ds106 was a lot of fun.  Short and simple.  I used a list of 50 top movie one-liners to help get my memory going.  This could easily be applied to a K-12 classroom as well.  Students could easily change one main line in a story and describe the direction that the story will take with the new line of dialogue.  Tim Owens has created a perfect example using Harry Potter, http://www.timmmmyboy.com/2011/09/sorting-hat/.

My dialogue change is from Dr. No, the first James Bond movie.  It is the first place that we were introduced to “Bond, James Bond”.  I am pretty sure his name helped build his image.

Here is the actual clip from YouTube:
