Want your kids to be animators, movie makers?  How about creative?  Try animating with Keynote.  The following are two example of animations using the “move” action in Keynote.

1st Grade Past and Present

Picture 3

This is a modification of the Comic Life lesson.  Comic Life has been having issues with saving, so I remade it to work in Keynote.  The students drop the matching picture into the colored boxes on the Keynote slides.  I have attached the picture, the template, and an exported slideshow from one of my 1st grade Whizzes.

Jamestown People and K Measurement

4th graders at Glen Allen used Keynote to create projects about the founders of Jamestown.  The kids added builds and speech bubbles to make the projects their own.  Keynote also has a feature that lets you delete the backgrounds of pictures.  This will allow your students to place themselves anywhere in the world.  The picture below is an example of the Keynote project and the video below is an example of how your students can use the Alpha feature in Keynote.

The Kindergarten students also used Keynote to study measurement. The drag and drop activity turns into a slidshow with movement when the kids are done and hit “play”.  The movie file is an example of a project when it is complete.
